Claims have been circulating after a recent update to Google’s recent ranking system documentation and a short video about website redirects from Google Search Central that the significance of technical SEO is dwindling.  A recent statement from John Mueller affirmed that technical SEO is not going away and in fact a critical component to your online success.

After Google updated its documented ranking system page and removed 4 rankings including mobile-friendly, page speed, secure sites, and page experience from an earlier 2023 update, the community became confused, Google quickly clarified that “It does NOT say page experience is somehow “retired” or that people should ignore things like Core Web Vitals or being mobile-friendly. The opposite. It says if you want to be successful with the core ranking systems of Google Search, consider these and other aspects of page experience.”
