Google announces rollout of August 2023 core search update, the second update of 2023. You are able to check the status of the update via this link. According to Google, the rollout will take two weeks to complete.
Some may not see an impact from the update, and others may find that it will negatively impact their site. My suggestion is always to focus on ensuring you’re offering the best content you can. That’s ultimately what Google’s algorithms seek to reward. Although Google never provides specific recommendations for each update, it published useful questions to ask to improve your overall ranking.
In the latest Search Off-The-Record podcast, Google suggests that you should always review your content and improve to optimize user experience. They admit there is a real struggle between content created specifically to rank in a search engine, and content that is actually ‘helpful’ to the user. The challenge is real and difficult for technical SEO experts, we always recommend for your content to be authentic, and genuine with consideration to ranking factors.
Do keep in mind that improvements made by site owners aren’t a guarantee of recovery, nor do pages have any static or guaranteed position in Google’s search results. If there’s more deserving content, that will continue to rank well with Google’s systems. Look at the big picture, and don’t fret about the small updates- (leave it to us SEO professionals) – just focus on creating reliable and helpful content for your users.
